Collins Introduces Commission on the Accountability and Review of Federal Agencies Act

Congressman Doug Collins (GA-09) formally introduced his vision for cutting government waste, inefficiency, and mismanagement with H.R. 4566, The Commission on the Accountability and Review of Federal Agencies (CARFA) Act.

A results-oriented approach to Congress's oversight and reform objectives, CARFA establishes a bipartisan commission tasked with making recommendations for the consolidation or elimination of domestic agencies. These recommendations would come to the House floor as privileged measures for faster consideration.

Congressman Collins said, "During my time in the Georgia legislature, I saw how often process gets in the way of implementing important cost-saving measures quickly. That happens on an even bigger scale in Washington. There is agreement all over Congress, across party lines, about duplicative programs we could cut right now. CARFA would give us the mechanism to evaluate the programs based on their merit, not on their connections to Members of Congress, certain areas, or certain interests."
