Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-6) today announced that she will participate in the 2014 Offshore Energy Tour with Congressman Steve Scalise (LA-1) in South Louisiana on May 13 and 14. Bachmann and Scalise appeared on WWL's Morning Show in New Orleans this morning to discuss energy policy and preview the tour.

"Domestic energy production plays a huge role in America's economic and national security by increasing jobs and growth and decreasing our reliance on foreign energy sources," said Bachmann. "We need to continue to unleash American energy production, both onshore and offshore, and I'm grateful to Congressman Scalise for his leadership and the opportunity to learn more about this critical industry."

"I appreciate Congresswoman Michele Bachmann taking the time to join me in touring an offshore production platform," Scalise said. "She'll see first-hand the extraordinary process of producing American energy in the Gulf of Mexico, and how these projects create jobs, grow our economy, and increase America's energy security."

Representatives Susan Brooks (IN-5), Mark Sanford (SC-1) and Steve Womack (AR-3) are also participating in the 2014 Offshore Energy Tour.

The congressional delegation will meet with key experts and stakeholders from the energy industry, visit an offshore production platform, and tour Port Fourchon.
