Sens. Menendez, Booker Announce over $56K in Assistance to Firefighters Grants for NJ Firefighters

U.S. Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Cory Booker (D-NJ) today announced three grant awards from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program totaling $56,808 for fire companies serving Tuckerton, Hardyston and High Bridge.

"Our firefighters deserve nothing less than our best efforts to help them respond safely and effectively when emergencies erupt," said Senator Menendez. "This federal funding will help fire departments in Tuckerton, Hardyston and High Bridge better protect our communities from tragedy. That is why I will continue fighting for these important programs on behalf of New Jersey's firefighters."

"The SAFER program provides a critical source of funding for fire departments across the state," Booker said. "Today's grant is particularly valuable to our dedicated firefighters and residents in Tukerton, Hardyston and High Bridge. I look forward to working with Sen. Menendez and FEMA to continue promoting the vitality of this program to strengthen the quality of New Jersey's emergency services."

The Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG) awards include:

$23,513.00 to the Tuckerton Fire Department for operations and safety.
$23,554.00 to the High Bridge Fire Department for operations and safety.
$9,741.00 to The Hardyston Fire Department for operations and safety.
The AFG program provides funding to enhance response capabilities, as well as to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel. These grants can be invested in training, protective equipment, fitness programs, modifications to facilities, and supplies that support firefighting operations and safety.
