Today, Representative Tim Walz received the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Congressional Leadership Award at DAV's state convention in Rochester. The Congressional Leadership Award is DAV's highest honor for Members of Congress. Walz was chosen "for his steadfast support and tireless efforts on behalf of all of America's wounded, injured and ill heroes." DAV presented Representative Walz with a custom made DAV baseball bat as their way of thanking him for going to bat for veterans.
"I'm honored and humbled to receive this award from the millions of DAV members across the country," Representative Walz said. "Thank you for your service and sacrifice to this great nation. Moving forward I will continue fighting to ensure veterans and their families have the support and care they have earned and deserve when they get home."
When announcing the award to Representative Walz, DAV National Commander Joseph W. Johnston said, "On behalf of DAV members across the country, I am pleased to present you with the DAV Congressional Leadership Award in recognition of your steadfast support and tireless efforts on behalf of all of America's wounded, injured and ill heroes. We know that Representative Tim Walz will always go to bat for us."
