Weekly Update

Voted for H.R. 4486, the fiscal year 2015 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Bill, to provide funding for our nation's military infrastructure, boost veterans programs and make government work better for our nation's veterans.

Voted to continue a pay freeze for members of congress. A freeze has been in place since 2010.

Asked Brigadier General Robert Lovell, U.S. Air Force, during an Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing about security in Benghazi and the lack of boots on the ground in the aftermath of these attacks.

Attended an Education and the Workforce Committee hearing where I stressed the importance of listening to state and local educators to Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

Participated in a Financial Literacy Program at Airport High School, a joint partnership between the school district and Monroe Bank & Trust

Held a Town Hall meeting in Grass Lake Depot where I answered constituent's questions, and gave them an update on my work in Washington.

Held a successful Military Academy Day in Monroe to provide information to students interested in applying to a military service academy.

Had the privilege of taking questions about my work in Congress from Chelsea Middle School 8th graders as well as giving them a guided tour of the U.S. Capitol.
