Today, Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and the Louisiana House Republican delegation is urging Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources Chair Mary Landrieu and Ranking Member Lisa Murkowski to act on legislation that will stop the needless delay of the Keystone pipeline.
The House-passed legislation, H.R. 3, the Northern Route Approval Act, which passed with bi-partisan support in May 2013, would remove the need for a Presidential permit for the Keystone pipeline and resolve other federal issues regarding the project. Members of the Louisiana delegation are encouraging Senators Landrieu and Murkowski to follow the House's lead by quickly moving this or similar legislation through the Senate as soon as possible.
Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:
"Building the Keystone pipeline will lower gas prices and create thousands of jobs for Louisiana workers. I voted with the House of Representatives to bypass President Obama and get the pipeline built. I hope the Senate also overcomes the resistance of President Obama and Senator Reid to build the Keystone pipeline."
