President's Remarks Echo West Virginia's Motto of Freedom

WASHINGTON, DC (1/20) "President Bush's Inaugural remarks projected a vision for the world that echoed something every West Virginian knows well: Mountaineers are always free,' Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) noted today after attending the noontime swearing in ceremony of President George W. Bush.
"I felt the spirit of West Virginia alive in the President's remarks," noted Capito, who was in attendance at the U.S. Capitol as President Bush took the oath of office for his second term. "Mountaineers live by a motto that we will always be free and that is the message President Bush is sending to the world. We will find a more stable world if we can help spread freedom."
Capito added, "As I listened to the President speak about protecting America by spreading freedom, my thoughts quickly moved to West Virginia's Guard and Reservists who are serving causes of freedom at home and abroad. West Virginia and America are free today because of the sacrifices of our military and their family and without them our world would be a different place."
Capito appreciated the President's call to bring America closer together. "We still have work to do in Washington bridging partisan differences. My continued service in Congress shows the public's desire to have a voice at the other side of the table. I am going to continue being an advocate for my state, working to improve our economy, lowering the cost of healthcare, helping keep our families and communities safe, and ensuring West Virginia receives its fair share of tax dollars to build roads and improve infrastructure."
Earlier in the day, Capito hosted several dozen West Virginians visiting Washington to attend the 55th Presidential Inauguration. Visitors were treated to coffee and donuts before heading out to watch the President and Vice President be sworn into office.
