Walz Visits Stewartville Business, Promotes Veterans Jobs Initiatives

Today, Representative Tim Walz, Co-Chair of the Congressional Veterans Jobs Caucus and the highest ranking enlisted soldier to ever serve in Congress, visited HALCON Furniture in Stewartville Minnesota to tour the business and promote his "I Hire Vets" initiative.

"We need to do everything we can to make sure our servicemen and women have the opportunity to achieve the American Dream when they get home. It's great to see businesses in southern Minnesota taking a proactive stance and pledging to hire veterans," Representative Walz said.

"I want to thank Representative Walz for visiting today and for inviting us to Washington last week to take part in an important national conversation about hiring veterans," said HALCON Vice President of Operations Peter Fuchsel. "At HALCON, we're committed to doing all we can to ensure our brave warriors are able to find good paying, rewarding careers when they get home."

Last week, HALCON Human Resources Generalist Kelly Spaulding flew to Washington to attend the Congressional Veterans Jobs Caucus Employer Hiring Initiatives Roundtable. Other companies in attendance included Boeing, Monster.com, and DuPont.

"Southern Minnesota's economy is working, and businesses like HALCON are proof of that," added Representative Walz. "I was pleased HALCON brought their important insight to our discussion in Washington last week. We need to take what's working here and apply it to the rest of the country."
