Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Todd Rokita, a member of the House Budget Committee, joins with fellow members of the House Budget Committee in introducing a budget resolution for Fiscal Year 2015 that balances the nation's budget, makes responsible reforms to strengthen safety net programs, creates jobs, and grows the economy. For the third year in a row, the House budget includes Medicaid reforms advanced by Rokita that would strengthen the program by giving increased flexibility to states. After the release of the budget, Rokita issued the following statement:

"This budget is another balanced budget that will empower Americans to build better lives for themselves and their families. By contrast the Senate offers no plan and the President's budget raises taxes and further grows the size and cost of the federal government. And neither are concerned with balancing the budget - ever. Without balance, we will never spare the children of tomorrow the debt we are assigning them today.

While we remain trapped in Obama's economic malaise, raising taxes and spending more is irresponsible and insulting to Americans who work hard to balance a budget every month," Rokita said.

In addition to his work on the FY2015 budget resolution, Rokita introduced the State Health Flexibility Act in the 112th and 113th Congress, which would reform the Medicaid program by block-granting the federal share of Medicaid funding to states, providing increased flexibility in the delivery of Medicaid services. Rokita has been joined on the bill by 50 cosponsors.
