Quigley Urges House to Pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) spoke at North Park University, where he urged the House of Representatives to bring comprehensive immigration reform to a vote without further delay. The House of Representatives has not yet voted on the issue, despite the fact the Senate passed a bipartisan immigration bill last June.
"Every day we fail to pass immigration reform is another day that families remain torn apart, and children separated from their parents," said Rep. Quigley. "The best way to stop these traumatic deportations, reunite broken families and bring 11 million undocumented immigrants out of the shadows is to pass comprehensive immigration reform today. I won't stop fighting for a commonsense solution that moves our country forward."
For the event, North Park's University Ministries joined the People Are Not Illegal campaign to mobilize the local community and faith leaders in an effort to bring a moral framework to reforming to immigration and mass incarceration policies.
Rep. Quigley has been a staunch advocate of comprehensive immigration reform throughout his time in Congress. Earlier this year, he pushed Congress to pass a pathway to citizenshipfor millions of undocumented immigrants in place of considering piecemeal immigration reform measures. Rep. Quigley also invited 47th Ward Alderman Ameya Pawar, the first Asian American elected to City Council, to be his guest at the State of the Union to promote immigration reform. As a member of the New Democrat Coalition's Immigration Task Force, Rep. Quigley promotes an agenda focused on American innovation and entrepreneurship as a path to economic growth and job creation.
