Hirono Announces Nearly &8.7 Million for Workforce Training

Today, Senator Mazie K. Hirono announced nearly $8.7 million in federal funds for job training, including skills assessments, job-search and resume help, long-term job-training programs and apprenticeships in Hawaii. The State of Hawaii's Workforce Development Division operates One-Stop Centers on Oahu, Hawaii Island, Maui and Kauai, using public-private partnerships and collaborations to provide job-training services.

"We should do all that we can to assist individuals who are looking for a job, whether it's job training or helping revamp a resume," said Hirono. "One-Stop Centers are an useful resource that can make a real difference for people who want to work, and today's announcement is good news for Hawaii job-seekers and their families."

These funds are allotted by the U.S. Department of Labor under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).
