Lankford: President Finally Puts "Pen' to Good Use

Representative James Lankford (R-OK) released the following statement this afternoon after President Obama signed the Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act into law:

"Gabriella Miller made a request to Members of Congress last fall to "stop talking and start doing,' and today in the final step of the lawmaking process, we have fulfilled her request. In a week when political donations are in the forefront of the Supreme Court, the House led the way to cut off federal tax dollars to political conventions in favor of pediatric research.

"President Obama put his pen to good use today by prioritizing the most vulnerable children in America. It is an honor to remember Gabriella Miller's legacy by putting pediatric health research before politics. We must remain focused on our core values as a nation, caring for our families and children first. Gabriella said, "If I lose my battle, then I want other people to carry on with the war--and they're going to win this war.' The Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act is a step in the right direction to ultimately win the war for the health of America's children."
