Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) released the following statement in response to the Republican budget authored by Representative Paul Ryan (WI-1):
"This latest Republican budget again attempts to gut critical federal funding that Americans rely on, including Medicare, our educational system, and the overall social safety net.
"The budget provides tax breaks for millionaires, billionaires, and special interests at the cost of middle-class families, who would see their taxes increase by an average of $2,000. It does nothing to provide Americans with increased opportunities to succeed.
"This reckless budget also rejects bi-partisan comprehensive immigration reform, which would reduce the federal deficit by $900 billion according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, all while creating jobs, promoting economic growth, and bringing millions of individuals out of the shadows.
"America's prosperity relies on a system that works for everyone, not for the wealthy few. We must continue to invest in the American people, keep our promises to seniors, and promote policies that grow the economy from the middle out."
