Increasing the Minimum Wage Will Help Wisconsin Families and Our Economy

In today's society, no one who works full time should live in poverty. But at current levels, the minimum wage has lost more than 30% of its value since 1968 -- leaving families in Wisconsin and across the country struggling to make ends meet. Raising the minimum wage would help to restore its value and is critical to helping grow the middle class from the bottom up.

"The growing gap between those at the top and everybody else is at its largest point in 100 years. The absence of upward mobility for hard working families demands action because if we can't close this gap, we might someday soon talk about the middle class as something we used to have, not something each generation can aspire to," said Senator Tammy Baldwin.
