Administration Responds to Bera Concerns With Proposal to Fix ACA Plan Cancellations, Give Patients More Choices

The Obama Administration announced new guidance and a proposed rule change to the Affordable Care Act Friday that would help prevent disruptions in care and ensure continuity for consumers. If finalized, this fix will address two significant problems that have affected families' abilities to get the health care that works for them: unnecessary plan cancellations and narrow provider networks. Congressman Ami Bera, M.D. offered the following comment:

"I'm glad the Administration is responding to concerns I've raised about the ACA and has proposed solutions to make the law work better for all Americans. We must put patients first and, as I doctor, I know the importance of ensuring access to necessary treatment, and as a father and husband, I know the importance of having predictable health care for your family and being able to choose where you get that care. The new rule would help further those goals. I hope the Administration will continue to listen and demonstrate a willingness to fix the pieces of the Affordable Care Act that aren't working to make it work better for everyone, and I will continue to do all I can to make that happen."
