Rep. Schakowsky Condemns Arson at Art of Living Facility in Pakistan

Rep. Schakowsky issued the following statement in response to news that the NGO Art of Living's facility in Islamabad was attacked and set ablaze earlier this week:

"I am deeply troubled by the recent violence against the Art of Living Centre in Islamabad, Pakistan. Art of Living, a humanitarian and educational NGO founded over thirty years ago by Sri Sri Ravi Sankar, is deeply involved in providing assistance to the Pakistani population.

I have shared my concerns with the Department of State and expressed my support for an investigation into this incident. I hope that local authorities will bring the perpetrators to justice. Individuals who have devoted their lives to helping others should not have to look over their shoulders in fear of violence."
