Horsford Condemns House Republicans For Sabotaging "Doc Fix" Bill

Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) denounced House Republicans for attaching a partisan amendment to a bipartisan bill designed to fix a payment formula that results in cuts to Medicare.

Horsford was a co-sponsor of H.R. 4015, the SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization Act of 2014, but did not vote for the legislation due to a Republican amendment that guts the Affordable Care Act.

"House Republican leaders just can't help themselves -- they have rejected governing responsibly and made partisan politics their priority," Horsford said. "By adding poison pills to the "doc fix' bill, they are sabotaging an important bipartisan piece of legislation for the sake of ideological games. I will not support any effort to weaken health care options for millions of Americans."

The original bill received overwhelming support from the medical community. After the Republican amendment was attached, dozens of health care groups, including the American Medical Association (AMA), heavily criticized House Republicans for playing party politics.
