Griffin: House Passes Bill to "Protect Workers and Families from Yet Another Obamacare Tax They Simply Can't Afford'

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement after the House passed the Suspending the Individual Mandate Penalty Law Equals (SIMPLE) Fairness Act (H.R. 4118):

"Because of Obamacare, millions of Americans lost their health insurance. Because of the Obama Administration's incompetent implementation of the law, many people can't get the new policies they need. But the Obama Administration insists that any individual who does not buy an Obamacare-approved health insurance plan will still be forced to pay a penalty tax this year, and that's not fair--especially after the Obama Administration gave big businesses a special waiver long ago. It's time to provide fairness for all, delay this disastrous policy and protect workers and families from yet another Obamacare tax they simply can't afford."

Rep. Griffin is a cosponsor of H.R. 4118, which would delay Obamacare's individual mandate penalty tax for one year, until 2015.

In July 2013, the House passed Rep. Griffin's Authority for Mandate Delay Act (H.R. 2667) with bipartisan support. It would delay Obamacare's employer mandate for one year (until January 1, 2015), authorizing the executive action President Obama announced in a July 2, 2013 blog post.
