During today's ceremony, Crow Tribe representatives noted that this resolution, which comes from one nation to another, recognizes similarities in Israel and the Crow Nation's histories. The Crow Tribe raises the Israeli flag every day at Veteran's Park in Crow Agency, Montana "as a monument to the official policy of the Crow Tribe."
"I applaud the Crow Tribe for proactively affirming Israel's right to exist and was honored to bring together representatives of the Tribe and Israel's Ambassador to the United States to commemorate this act of friendship," Daines stated. "Both nations recognize the challenges the other faces in maintaining their political and territorial independence, and share a deep appreciation and connection to their ancestral homelands. I will continue to do everything I can to support the efforts of both the Crow Tribe and Israel to build a more prosperous future for their nations."
"The Crow Tribe was honored to present our resolution in support of the State of Israel to Ambassador Ron Dermer and thanks Congressman Daines for his efforts in coordinating the ceremony," stated Crow Nation leaders, including Chairman Old Coyote and his Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch. "Protecting the Crow Tribe's sovereignty is of utmost importance and we support Israel's efforts to defend its economic, political, and territorial integrity. I am hopeful that this resolution will signify the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship between the Crow Tribe and the State of Israel."
"I know that a people connected to their land for millennia can appreciate the nearly 4000-year-old unbreakable bond between the Jewish people and their land," Ambassador Dermer told members of the Crow Tribe today. "Thank you for your strong support of the State of Israel and your good wishes to the people of Israel. On behalf of the people of Israel I wish you and your nation health and prosperity."
Members of the Crow Tribe in attendance included Vice Secretary Shawn Backbone, Legislators Gerald Stewart, Eric Birdinground, Paul Hill, Carlos Nomee, and Brandon Goodluck, Director of Tribal Health Todd Wilson, and Executive Staff member Cindy Rose Brown.
In the resolution, the Crow Tribe states that the official policy of the Tribe will be to "support the State of Israel, especially in its efforts to maintain economic, territorial and political integrity and in the promotion of peace and political stability in the Middle East."
