Lankford Applauds Senate Passage of Kids First Research Act

Representative James Lankford (R-OK) released the following statement on the Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act, which was unanimously approved by the Senate this morning and now awaits action by President Obama:

"I am pleased the Senate passed the Kids First Research Act this morning and look forward to President Obama signing this important bill into law as soon as possible. Gabriella Miller, an incredibly brave little girl who lost her battle to cancer last year, inspired the Kids First Research Act through her fundraising and awareness. I was proud to support legislation to honor her life and legacy by reprioritizing federal funding from political party conventions and presidential campaigns to research for pediatric diseases and disorders. Pediatric health research should always take priority over political use of taxpayer dollars. I urge President Obama to sign this bill immediately and anticipate the positive impact this legislation will have for American families, who desperately need a breakthrough in research to diagnose and treat childhood diseases."
