When your family sits down to plan its budget, it has to live within its means. Congress should too. Unfortunately we are making the equivalent of $25,000 a year and spending $38,000 every year. That's not even counting the over $160,000 that have been put on our credit cards.
The solution is simple. Congress must make the tough decisions to balance its own budget. In the seven years that I have been a State Representative, we have crafted and passed a balanced budget every year. Washington should too.
I would support a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution. 49 of the 50 states already have them. Washington must stop the chronic over-spending; the only way to do that is by balancing its budget.
