Location: Washington, DC

Representative Jared Polis (CO-02) today made the following statement regarding President Barack Obama's executive action on patent reform:

"As an entrepreneur that has started many small businesses, including several technology companies, I am pleased that the President has instructed the Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) to take an important step to help start-ups and end user businesses combat patent abuse by directing potential victims to databases of demand letters, as I have called for in my patent troll legislation. While I am encouraged to see the PTO begin to address this issue, Congress should act to protect vulnerable individuals and businesses from patent trolls."
