Raising Minimum Wage Key to Closing Opportunity Gap, Economic Growth

Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada's First District released the following statement today after signing a discharge petition filed by Congressman Tim Bishop to force consideration of H.R. 1010, the Fair Minimum Wage Act.

"I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to earn a decent wage for a hard day's work, whether they're a young worker trying to earn money for college or a single mother supporting a family. In short, the minimum wage is about fairness, the value of work, and the opportunity to succeed - which is the American dream. It is also key to closing the opportunity gap and building an economy that works for everyone.

"Our country's greatest resource is its people; so let's not waste another minute. Let's invest in our future today."
