Lujan Grisham Attends "My Brother's Keeper" Launch at White House

U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01), the Whip of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, today visited the White House to attend the launch of "My Brother's Keeper," a new initiative to provide greater opportunities for young men of color who are willing to work hard to get ahead. The initiative will build on existing partnerships between communities, businesses and foundations to connect young Hispanic and African American males with the support networks, mentoring programs, and skills and training they need to succeed in the classroom and in the workplace.

"Creating positive opportunities for young men of color is critically important to improving outcomes for New Mexico's youth," Rep. Lujan Grisham said. "Young men of color are disproportionately at risk of falling behind and are more than twice as likely to be not working or not enrolled in school. We all have a responsibility to the youth of our communities to ensure that they have every opportunity to see the positive results of their hard work."
