Israel is the United State's closest and most important ally in the Middle East. The bond between our two countries is rooted, not only in our shared national interest, but also in our shared values of democracy, rule of law and basic human rights.

Established as the homeland of the Jewish people in May 1948, just one day before Lois's own birth, Lois's visits to Israel have been personal and moving. She has had an opportunity to see firsthand Israel's remarkable leadership in agriculture, medicine and technology, as well as its precariousness relationships in the region.

For eight years, in her capacity as Mayor of West Palm Beach, she dealt with the everyday issues that come with running a community, from keeping the sewers working to fighting street crime. The position of an Israeli Mayor, who must worry 24 hours a day about rocket fire from its closest neighbors, is unimaginable.

As a member of the United States Congress, Lois will work in a bi-partisan manner to fight any and all attempts to delegitimize Israel in the international arena and to ensure the safety and security of the Jewish state of Israel.
