Griffin: Chairman Camp's Tax Reform Discussion Draft "Begins the Conversation'

Statement

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02), a member of the Ways and Means Committee, released the following statement after Chairman Dave Camp (MI-04) unveiled draft legislation to fix America's broken tax code, the Tax Reform Act of 2014:

"Chairman Camp continues to demonstrate bold leadership. His discussion draft begins the conversation on reforming our broken tax code from top to bottom and making our system simpler, fairer and flatter. Political realities required the Chairman to seek a revenue neutral approach, and while this discussion draft doesn't please everyone in every way, it will help facilitate a detailed national conversation on this issue. I welcome even more input from Arkansans about how we can broaden the tax base, close loopholes, encourage economic growth, increase pay and grow jobs. These are my primary goals, and I will continue to pass along Arkansans' ideas and concerns to Chairman Camp and committee staff as we develop and refine these ideas, which already represent hundreds of hours of working group discussions, deliberation and debate amongst Members, taxpayers, small business owners and other job creators."
