Issue Position

Washington, D.C. needs to balance its budget yearly just like our North Carolina families have to do.

Spending in Washington is out of control. Due to the failed leadership of President Obama and Kay Hagan, the national debt has ballooned to more than 17 trillion dollars. That means our debt is larger than our entire GDP and, to make matters worse, our nation's credit rating has fallen below an AAA rating. We must pass a balanced budget amendment that forces Congress to only spend what it takes in. In North Carolina, our families have to balance their budgets and make tough choices. It is inexcusable that the federal government does not have to do the same.
