Cassidy Comments on Latest Louisiana Obamacare Insurance Cancellation Count

Press Release

Date: Feb. 18, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. commented on the announcement by State Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon that 62,000 Louisianans had their health insurance cancelled by Obamacare. This number accounts for those who benefitted from the "transitional relief" that allows insurance companies to offer pre-existing insurance policies for one more year. Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:

"President Obama and Congressional Democrats promised repeatedly during the debate on the Affordable Care Act that if you like your health plan, you can keep it. The latest numbers from the Louisiana Department of Insurance show this was an empty promise. This is a flawed program that needs to be replaced with patient-centered reforms."
