Statement

Dear Neighbors,

This week, I hosted a Hiring Event with Congressman Brad Schneider at Harper College in Palatine. Over 50 employers were there to discuss open positions in their companies with over 500 job seekers. This is a first step of many to get our economy moving again here in Illinois.

I also held an employee townhall at Zurich Insurance in Schaumburg. We discussed their commitment to the region with the plan to build a facility that will create 700 estimated construction jobs. I answered questions about the upcoming legislative agenda, public service and my work on bipartisan legislation.

I then met with employees and executives at the Customer Care Center at CVS Caremark in Mount Prospect. I toured their mail order prescription facility and met with members of their staff who work on the Valor program, which works to help Veterans succeed in the workplace.

This morning, I was the keynote speaker at Rush University Hospital's opening of their Road Home Program Center for Veterans and Their Families. This center will provide Veterans, their spouses, children and other family members with the health and counseling services support they need to adjust to life upon returning home from overseas deployments.

Tomorrow, I am hosting an informational session for the U.S. House STEM App Competition at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library from 2:00 -- 4:00 PM. The contest is open to all high school students who either live or go to school in the 8th District. I encourage all interested students to apply.
