I believe that smart health care choices are made when doctors and patients work together, not when a government bureaucrat in Washington sets care standards. For this reason, I strongly support efforts to eliminate the President's takeover of healthcare.
The damage that the Affordable Care Act does to our economy exemplifies the worst in government overreach. Even before full implementation, it wreaks havoc on our health care system, costs billions more than promised, and reduces the ability for job creators to hire new workers--not ideal conditions for a nation currently plagued by economic hardship.
Yet the status quo in America today is unacceptable. We must continue to promote a market-based system that strengthens the doctor-patient relationship, reduces cost, increases access, and allows American businesses to grow again. Doing this requires a multi-step plan that significantly reduces the amount that doctors must pay in order to protect themselves from unreasonable lawsuits, allows insurance companies to operate across state lines, and helps small businesses pool their resources to achieve lower premiums. I will work to advance these commonsense, pro-growth policies.
