Horsford Launches Tool For Nevadans To Share Unemployment Insurance Struggles

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) launched a new page on his website where constituents can share stories about how the expiration of unemployment insurance benefits have affected them and their loved ones.

"House Republicans have refused to bring up legislation I co-sponsored to extend unemployment insurance benefits, and I want to make sure my colleagues understand who they are hurting with their obstruction," Horsford said. "There are more than 22,000 Nevadans who are struggling right now, and they need Congress to act."

An effort last week in the U.S. Senate to extend unemployment insurance benefits for three months was blocked by Republicans. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has announced that there will be another vote for an extension within the next few weeks.

"I know Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will not give up on extending unemployment insurance for those who are struggling, and I applaud his efforts," Horsford continued. "Senate and House Republicans must not understand what it feels like to be unemployed, or they just don't care. Either way, I will continue to give Nevadans a voice in this process."
