Representative Jared Polis (CO-02) today made the following statement regarding President Barack Obama's announcement of a $2 billion increase in funding for ConnectED:
"We cannot expect our children to learn the skills to succeed tomorrow with technology and infrastructure from yesterday. I am encouraged by the President's announcement and the private sector's willingness to step up and make this critical investment in our nation's students.
"Now it is time to build on this commitment and simplify, streamline, improve, and modernize the federal E-Rate program. I look forward to working with the FCC and our nation's schools, libraries, and internet providers to bring high-quality digital learning to every school in America."
In December, Rep. Polis led a bipartisan letter to the FCC arguing for swift action to improve and modernize the E-Rate program. You can find the full text of the letter here.
