Bera Comments on Hearing on Iran Nuclear Deal

Congressman Ami Bera, M.D. participated in a House Committee on Foreign Affairs hearing Tuesday at which Secretary of State John Kerry testified about the interim agreement on Iran's nuclear program finalized recently between Iran, the United States, and other leading nations. Bera offered the following comment:

"Today's hearing was a necessary discussion about the nuclear deal between Iran and the U.S. The agreement is an important step towards the widely-shared, international goal of preventing Iran from developing or acquiring nuclear weapons, and while I am encouraged by the historic constructive progress made in Geneva, I remain committed to an all-options-on-the-table approach towards Iran. In the months ahead, the U.S. and the international community must continue our vigilance and verification in Iran, and if Iran violates the interim agreement, or if a long-term accord does not materialize, they must be fully aware they will face serious consequences."
