LIHEAP Funding Will Help Wisconsinites Meet Energy Costs

The Department of Health and Human Services announced plans today to make available more than $454 million in heating assistance funds across the country through LIHEAP grants. This will help Americans meet their energy costs. Wisconsin's share of the funds is $14.2 million. U.S. Representative Sean Duffy (WI-07), who has been working to provide solutions for constituents impacted by the propane crisis, offered the following comments on today's announcement:

"I worked with the Northeast-Midwest Institute to encourage the Administration to expedite the release of remaining LIHEAP funds for Fiscal Year 2014. This will bring much needed relief to our state and my constituents who have been hit particularly hard by the record low temperatures and record high home heating prices.

"While I appreciate the Administration heeding this request, there is much more that can be done. I am hopeful that we can work together to provide immediate assistance and longterm solutions."
