U.S. Representative Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) issued the following statement today on the West Virginia water emergency:
"I've spoken with West Virginia American Water officials this morning and thanked them for the company's thorough response to this emergency. As the flushing process begins, I urge everyone to follow the flushing zone orders and work together to restore service. I've also reached out to local officials and affected businesses and offered them my assistance in the coming weeks and months as they work to get back to normal.
"As we investigate how this leak occurred, I support the U.S. Chemical Safety Board reviewing this incident, as they have with previous incidences in West Virginia. I will also work with my colleagues from the West Virginia congressional delegation to examine this issue.
"I will continue to help West Virginians recover from this emergency and thank everyone for their patience, teamwork and cooperation."
