Cassidy Praises Omnibus Inclusion of EGO Act

Statement

Date: Jan. 14, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. praised House appropriators for including his Eliminating Government-Funded Oil-Paintings (EGO) Act in the omnibus spending bill to continue funding government operations through the end of Fiscal Year 2014. The EGO Act bans taxpayer funds going to oil paintings for the President, Vice President, Cabinet members and Members of Congress. Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:

"American taxpayers shouldn't be called to sacrifice to pay for vanity paintings which are often hidden from the public. This is a waste of money that is rightly being eliminated. I commend the budget negotiators for including the Eliminating Government-Funded Oil-Paintings or EGO Act."
