Cassidy, Katz Respond to State of the Union

Statement

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. responded to the State of the Union and the President's policies on health care. He was joined by Mr. Larry Katz, owner of Dots Diners in southeast Louisiana, whose employees and business have been hurt by the Affordable Care Act.

Bill Cassidy:

Hello. I'm Doctor and Congressman Bill Cassidy. With me is Larry Katz, the owner of Dots Diner Restaurants in southeast Louisiana.

Tonight, President Obama spoke of the success of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. Now for 24 years, I've worked in the charity hospital system treating patients. People getting healthcare has been my life's work, and I've learned that good jobs with good benefits are good for you and your family's financial and physical health. My concern is that because of Obamacare, there'll be fewer jobs and fewer people with private health insurance.

Larry Katz:

As a small business owner, I've had to deal with the impacts of Obamacare. Our health insurance costs skyrocketed, limiting our ability to hire more people. We need public policy which makes health insurance affordable. That will help us create more job opportunities and strengthen our economy.

Bill Cassidy:

Unfortunately, Obamacare decreases the number of good jobs with good benefits. It's my goal in Washington to work for policies that work for you, not against you. Thank you.
