Statement

Date: Jan. 10, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressmen Bill Cassidy, M.D., voted for H.R. 3811, the Health Exchange Security and Transparency Act. The bill makes HealthCare.gov accountable to the American people by requiring notification within two days if personal information has been stolen or unlawfully accessed. Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:

"We have already heard the Obamacare website, Healthcare.gov, has experienced dozens of security breaches. This is unacceptable. The bureaucrats running Obamacare must follow the same laws that businesses follow when personal information is hacked and notify the American people when security breaches occur. This bill is a positive step toward protecting consumers."
