Fleming Votes for Ban on Taxpayer-Funding of Abortion

Statement

Congressman John Fleming, M.D., released the following statement after voting for the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act, which passed the House of Representatives today on a bipartisan vote of 227 to 188:

"This issue is clear; no American should be forced to pay for abortion services. Abortion is the taking of an innocent human life, and the government should not be funding it with your tax dollars. That has been the long-standing policy of the federal government, but everything changed with Obamacare and the accounting gimmicks it used to pave the way for public funding of abortion. The measure we sent to the Senate today would prevent taxpayer funding for abortion and ensure that purchasers of Obamacare health insurance plans will be fully informed about whether their premiums will fund abortion services."
