Rep. Schneider Cosponsors the Community College to Career Fund Act

U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10) cosponsored the Community College to Career Fund Act (HR 2560) to authorize competitive grants to enhance community colleges' abilities to train skilled workers.

The Community College to Career Fund authorizes four types of grants, focusing on enhancing workforce development; rewarding successful training programs; encouraging businesses to bring jobs to developing areas; and teaching entrepreneurial and startup strategies.

"In an increasingly-competitive and technical 21st Century global marketplace, our community colleges will play a critically-important role in developing the world's most-skilled workforce," Schneider said. "These grants focus on developing and improving workforce development programs, and I am confident that through industry, community and higher education partnerships, community colleges will lead the way."

Schneider, a member of the House Small Business Committee, actively pursues legislation to ensure that through education, workers have the skills they need to be successful and attract employers.

In February, Schneider introduced the AMERICA Works Act to help bring educators and industry leaders together to design curricula to train workers with the most in-demand skills. Read more about the AMERICA Works Act here.
