Issue Position

Congress must come together with a bipartisan effort to find a long-term budget solution that reduces our deficit and grows our economy. This means taking a balanced approach to craft a responsible plan that cuts wasteful spending and invests in the programs that help working families, create jobs and put our economy back on the right track. A long term budget must protect the promise of Social Security and Medicare, and encourage innovation and job creation.

Businesses and working families need policies that provide them with the clarity they need to plan and invest for the future. It's time to stop budgeting 90 days at a time or stumbling from one fiscal crisis to the next.

We must focus on making smart, targeted investments that will create jobs and help working families have the opportunity to succeed. By prioritizing investments in education, basic research and infrastructure, we will make our nation a magnet for innovation and good jobs.
