Renew Unemployment Insurance

Statement

Today, our nation's economy continues to recover, but Wisconsin's economy continues to lag behind other states. With far too many people still looking for a job, now is not the time to make things harder. Wisconsin's economy can't afford the expiration of unemployment insurance this year because it will cost our economy jobs and slow growth.

I joined colleagues from both parties to cosponsor the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Extension Act. Now, both the Senate and the House must work across party lines to get the job done extend unemployment insurance. It's time to move this legislation forward, put it on the President's desk, and get it signed into law for the American people.
