Polis Lauds Interior Funding for CSU, Fort Collins Science Center

Representative Jared Polis (CO-02) welcomed Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell's announcement today that Interior has awarded nearly $7 million to universities and other partners nationwide for research to prepare our communities for the impacts of climate change, and congratulated Colorado State University and the Fort Collins Science Center for their well-deserved inclusion in this vital undertaking.

"I am thrilled that the Department of the Interior has recognized Colorado State University and the Fort Collins Science Center as leaders on climate science research," said Congressman Polis. "The work that these world class institutions will produce with this funding will help protect our quality of life."

The research projects funded through today's announcement in Colorado's Second District include:

Developing a VisTrails Platform for Modeling Streamflow Hydrology and Projecting Climate Change Effects on Streamflow (Fort Collins Science Center)
Surrogate Species for Wetland-Dependent Birds in the Prairie Pothole Region: Selection, Evaluation, and Management Application in the Face of Climate Change (Fort Collins Science Center; CSU's Department of Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Biology)
Capacity Building in the North Central Climate Science Center Domain (CSU's Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory)
Foundational Science Area Activities (CSU's Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory)
