Lankford Proud to Welcome GE Global Research Facility to Oklahoma City

Statement

Representative James Lankford issued the following statement after GE announced today that downtown Oklahoma City was chosen as the future site of the company's new global research facility for energy technology:

"For decades the state of Oklahoma has led the way in energy innovation, and I'm proud to welcome GE to Oklahoma City to join this distinguished legacy. The Oil & Gas Technology Center will not only continue to drive the economic engine of downtown Oklahoma City but will also enhance the ability of our city and state to advance innovation in the energy sector. I look forward to the opening of the new GE research facility in the heart of the Fifth Congressional District, and I welcome them to the neighborhood."

GE announced that its new center will create 130 high-tech jobs and is expected to have a direct and indirect economic impact of $13 million on the state and local economies. GE also stated that it has invested approximately $14 billion in its oil & gas business globally since 2007.
