Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement on the fiftieth anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
"For those of us who are old enough to remember the shooting, we will be thinking about where we were when we heard President Kennedy hadbeen shot. But for everyone--whether you were alive then or not--today is a chance to reflect on the vision that President Kennedy had for the country he loved so much. President Kennedy believed in public investment in education, research and health care. He believed in public service, especially for young people. And he believed that we all have a role in ending poverty and helping those who need help the most."
