Cassidy Praises House Support of Saeed Abedini

Statement

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. praised the House Committee on Foreign Affairs for approving House Resolution 147 regarding U.S. citizen Saeed Abedini. It calls for the Iranian government to release Pastor Abedini and condemns them for their persecution of religious minorities. This follows the Senate passing their version of Dr. Cassidy's resolution by unanimous consent last week. Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:

"I thank the Committee on Foreign Affairs for its quick action regarding this resolution. As Pastor Abedini, an American citizen, continues to be imprisoned for his faith, we must send a strong message to the Iranian government that its abuse of human rights will not be tolerated."

The resolution will now be sent to the full House for a vote.
