Representative Todd Rokita released the following statement after helping lead passage of the Keep Your Health Plan Act, H.R. 3350. H.R. 3350, legislation cosponsored by Rokita, that prevents ObamaCare from forcing millions of Americans from their individual health insurance plans. The bill passed with bipartisan support 261-157.
"Real people are feeling real pain due to the harmful impact of ObamaCare and I will continue standing up for them by chipping away at this law, and working for its complete repeal. Millions of Americans are finding out the hard way that the President willfully deceived the American people when he told them they could keep their insurance, underscoring just how insidious ObamaCare really is. Hoosiers like Rick Lee of Plainfield (see attached), who contacted me last week about his cancellation letter and the fact that he now will have to purchase more expensive insurance he simply does not want or need." said Rokita.
Estimates vary as to how many Americans may lose their current health insurance plan under ObamaCare. The Obama Administration's own Federal Register, in 2010, estimated as many 93 million would lose their insurance plan. Despite that knowledge, the President continued to repeat the lie that Americans could keep their insurance plans.
Rokita added, "Contrary to the ObamaCare's government knows best philosophy, health care reform should focus on patients and the best outcome for each individual. I introduced the American Health Care Reform Act with these ideas in mind. We must control health care costs by harnessing free-market principles and not the heavy hand of government price controls in ObamaCare that is hurting Hoosiers."
Honest reforms like Rokita's American Health Care Reform Act, introduced in September, offer patient-centered, free market health care solutions that increase competition, lower costs, improve access for vulnerable Americans, and reform medical liability law.
