Ayotte Statement on Iran Nuclear Agreement

U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement regarding the nuclear agreement with Iran:

"I hope that we can reach a peaceful outcome that stops Iran from achieving nuclear weapons capability. Iran's nuclear weapons program represents one of the most serious national security threats to our country and our allies. I am concerned that key components of Iran's nuclear weapons program remain intact, given that this agreement leaves the Arak facility-which could produce plutonium for a bomb-just months from completion. This agreement also does not require Iran to dismantle its centrifuges. We must demand a permanent, transparent, and verifiable end to Iran's nuclear program - not just a suspension. I plan to work across party lines to finalize an additional round of sanctions that will automatically go into effect if Iran cheats or refuses to end its nuclear weapons program.‎"
