Himes Statement on Norwalk School District Named as Finalist for Race to the Top Funds

Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) released the following statement today after the U.S. Department of Education announced that the Norwalk school district is among 31 finalists for the Race to the Top-District competition. The U.S. Department of Education will award winners selected from among these finalists between $4 million and $30 million to implement their plans to improve student learning. Winners will be announced by Dec. 31, 2013.

"Congratulations to Norwalk on being recognized for its commitment to providing a quality education for all of its students. This funding would help Norwalk continue its work to ensure that every child gets a chance to succeed. A good education system is the foundation of our economy, and this funding will help Norwalk Schools continue their work to help every single child success in school and beyond."
