Cramer Statement on House Passage of Keep Your Health Plan Act

Statement

Today the House of Representatives passed the Keep Your Health Plan Act. The bill responds to the cancellation of millions of insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act by allowing insurers to continue offering them into next year.

"When North Dakotans started to receive their cancellation notices I quickly joined Chairman Fred Upton in becoming an original cosponsor of this bill. It allows anyone, including the uninsured, to enroll in the health care plan they choose. Further, it expands Americans' options by giving them an additional year to purchase a plan of their choosing," said Cramer. "These health care options should have never been stripped away in the first place. Despite assurances from the President, North Dakotans have lost coverage and they deserve a solution."

President Obama repeatedly stated "If you like your health care plan, you'll be able to keep your health care plan, period." In North Dakota alone it is estimated over 36,000 individuals will have their policies canceled due to Obamacare. The Keep Your Health Plan Act would allow insurers to continue offering 2013 health insurance plans outside of the Obamacare exchanges into next year.
